250 Virago Sprocket Change

I bought this bike with a 17/40 sprocket arrangement. Stock is 16/45. Now I have a whine at times, sounds maybe like clutch issue. Can anyone comment or report on their experience with a sprocket modification affecting stock clutch?

From what I've seen.....it's the rider that causes clutch issues, not the sprockets. Take off is different when you change......and if you don't adjust your riding style to compensate, you can eat up a clutch. Other than that.... they are 2 totally different parts of the bike.
