Ran into brick wall on paint job.

Ok. I got my parts all lined up and the compressor prepped and ready to go. Pulled the lid on my primer And it was like mud 3/4
of the way down the quart can. I put 8 ozs on the scale and tried to mix it into a cream. Not going to happen. After 45 minutes of mixing
(w/no hardener in it) This is what it still looked like (see pic below)

$30 Worth of paint shot to L. I thought. So luckily I save all the docs and called the company (TCP Global) In CA.
A chinaman answered the phone. I told him what happened and he said he would send me a new can. So he saved the day for me. What got me was he said he would go to the warehouse and check the stock. I looked at the address on the box it came from and it was from North Carolina Not California. So when I asked him about it he said we ship from CA to NC when sending east coast orders. Made no sense to me and I think it was BS.
But as far as painting this day was shot.
No way was I even thinking about putting this chunky soup in my gun.
What a mess.

Check out the pics Maybe next time it will be better.

TCP has a warehouse in both locations that they ship out of. I got things from both places when I used to use them. Too many issues like you just had and all I deal with now is my local NAPA paint store. Great products, all the stuff I need, awesome live help and have never had an issue with outdated paint like I did constantly with TCP.

Plus I've had the opportunity to meet other painters and stripers that have been a big help over the years.

Yes it is...they don't all have a full auto paint selection, but the ones that do are awesome.

I got this paint from TCP because it was very close to the Amber Whiskey color that Harley uses on it's sportster's.

That color however is a water born paint. A completely different animal to work with.

TCP Global had the 2 part epoxy paint like Imron in the Firethorn Orange
base coat. The primer in Red oxide was my choice to deepen the
orange color a bit more than grey primer would.

Bevo, If you want the rest of this can I can send it to you. I hear it tastes pretty good on crackers.... The chunky delight!

Wow, as a follow up to this thread here are some more spine chilling details. Well I got my second quart of red oxide primer from TCP Global. And pulling the lid off revealed the same ugly serpent hiding inside. Chunky hardened pigment 1/2 way down....

Now the third quart which I was told the lid was removed to check it
and confirmed it was loose to the bottom, is on it's way from California.

There is no reason for this. Personally I will never use TCP Global again for a
paint supply vendor.

I was told by another member they had issues similar to what I'm going through now. Wish I would have searched a bit more before purchase.

Anyway I had already painted my hard parts with a red primer so not waiting anymore, I shot the first coats of the Firethorn orange Base coat yesterday. The results can be seen below.
This paint has a really nice metallic sparkle to it in the sunlight and changes hue in bright light or shade.
The paint is a bit rough but after wet sanding and the clear coat is done it will be smooth.
check out the last image gives you an idea of the look I'm getting....

Hey all. I've been busy and finally got the clear coat on the painted parts.

I must say that the Eastwoods 2K clear coat is amazing.
This paint pops just enough that no flake was required. The clear coat
helped to deepen the color and make the flake in the paint come out.
Very nice.

Here are a few pics after a cook in the Florida sun for about 5 hours.

Looks good.....a little color sanding should help bring out the gloss even more.

Thanks, I'm a good 4 weeks into this event. A bunch of bad weather slowed things down. I kept the tank for last so I could keep the bike in running condition while all these parts were being finished up.

Yes I need to do a bit of buffing and color sanding to get the best pop.

But it looks deep and liquid. Really nice paint.

It has that hot rod touch to it. Should make for a sharp looking ride.
