2002 Vstar 1100 PIPES questions

Just bought an 02 Vstar 1100 with Vance & Hines Classic II's. The re-jet kit is installed as well. They're great, they sound great and I love them. However, one pipe is rusted out beyond repair.

I have access to a set of slip on pipes from a harley fat boy and was wondering if I could swap them out without re-jeting the carbs again?

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

MW what is the part number of the pipe that is rusted? I have a spare brand new one that I could let go if you're interested.

@Corsair,

I've had a hard time getting ahold of Vance and Hines so I'm unaware of there is a part # for the one pipe but I know they are the Classic II slip ons found here:

MW, I went to the link you gave me and downloaded the install procedure and it states that the upper muffler's PN is Y736. Unfortunately that is the spare that I have and I know for a fact that it doesn't fit on the lower position. If you remove the pipe, you'll find the PN stamped on the bracket. You could confirm this to make sure that on the off chance the pipes got installed reversed. Then the one that I have would fit.

Corsair,

It is indeed the bottom pipe, that would've been awesome if you had the replacement :/
I have some fat boy pipes that I mentioned on the way to see if they work. Any ideas if they will work with the re-jet kit already installed from V&H? When I slip them on, what should I look for to tell if the bike isn't running properly? Thanks

The only things I can think of is that you would have a lot of popping on decel, poor acceleration if anything. I noticed that the AIS is still installed. You could always do the delete and get rid of the popping that way, maybe install a pods kit also. All easy stuff to do if your a bit mechanically inclined.

You can also leave the AIS alone and just adjust the carbs appropriately to eliminate the backfire. Usually 1/2 turn on each pilot mixture screw is all you need...

Mufflers have very little effect on performance if you're still using the stock head pipes, so there shouldn't be anything performance-wise that will be effected. The hardest part is just going to be the rear mounts.
