Reason to mod '06 carburetor?

My V-Star 1100 is an '06 and I've already done the AIS removal and I'm going to install the Chubby Air kit this week after I have the mechanic where I work rebuild and re-jet the carburetors. I was looking on the Wiki and there is a section about the '06 model bikes and up have different carburetors and it was saying to put the '05 model main jet holder in and grinding down some metal and I was just wondering if that's really necessary? Would it be worth modding it?

*Edit* Also, would it be worth removing the solenoid shut-off? It seems like extra work and I'm not sure it would be necessary considering the fact that I've never even hit the rev limiter.

There's really no need to grind the jet holders unless you really want to. Just remove the O ring and it'll allow ample fuel to get into the pocket in the bowl.

The only reason for removing the solenoids is if you don't like the cluttered look.....or for when the wires break off and you start getting the check engine light flashing at you.

When they do break, or if you want to clean up the carbs.....I've got "SSD" kits available for $25 shipped (as mentioned in the wKB).

Interesting, I'm also going to be installing the chubby kit this week. I opted for the 05 model kit (even tho mine is an 06) because I was planning on grinding down the main jet holder as well. But if I just have to remove the o-ring that sounds much easier. That wasn't mentioned as an option in the kb but I'll give it a try!

It mentions it now....... in big red letters.

Just finished. Took me about 4 hours, never messed with anything carb related before. With the help of the KB it was a breeze. Just took off the o-ring like Mick suggested and she started right up and seems to be running great!
