Memphis shade Batwing whistles on my 1100

I installed a Memphis Shades Batwing on my 1999 1100 Custom. It looks good and has really reduced the buffeting to where it is no problem but there is a whistle at 60+ mph. Not a deal breaker but it bugs me. I am thinking of squeezing some foam type insulation between the headlight rim and fairing as I am thinking that would be the highest possible place where a whistle would come from. Anybody else have this and found a "cure"?

i just installed one on my 013 tourer an love it. no whistles but i did put the lowers from ms on an it's "almost" as quiet as a church as far as wind noise. i really don't think your problem is the gap in the head lite. i would try changing position of it on the mts first.

Kragster, got my batwing from cruisercustomizing.com I have the XVS1100 Custom and their site seemed pretty user friendly. if you have the vstar1100 custom these will probably be the parts. The video wasn't impressive but it went together pretty easily. I got the 12" windshield and I am 5"11' and it is not too tall.

Thanks for the info, that's the best total price I've seen for the whole kit. I've got an '05 1100 Classic so I'll double check on to make sure on the part numbers. Now I just have to find a decent painter in my area.

Hey birdog,
When I put a Memphis shades batwing fairing on my 950t , I added the deflectors to it with previously installed lowers. Like swfly, I'm almost church quiet w/o any whistling. I'd try as he suggested in changing the mounting position, just an idea. Let us know if you find a cure.

Where do you all go to church? Ours has the police telling them to turn the amps down constantly. I wear ear plugs. Moments of silence occur to get the ringing out of our ears.
