VStar 1100 Mini-apes

So I'm thinking about swapping out my stock bars to mini-apes (12").

Anyone done this?

Where did you get your longer clutch cable and brake line?

Any specific ape recommendations?

Advice/tips?

Not too worried bout the wiring - I can make those.

Thanks in advance. Bill

I has chimps for a little while. I just needed an upper brake hose, but the bars were pretty narrow.

I get all my cables from Tim at Metric Magic, They are Barnett, which is a top quality cable.

Get your bars on then figure out what you need....

I have 12s on mine. Upper brake line I got from a vendor on ebay.

I rerouted the clutch cable and didn't need to make any changes to the wiring.

Not all 12's are the same though, but you should be okay.

Mick - you've got an awesome ride....love that look. What size is that tire - a 210? Stock rims?

Thanks for the info...I've been debating what happens next now that the starter clutch is fixed. While I love riding my Raider, this vStar is just plain comfy and fun to ride....undecided whether to sell or keep. If I keep, am considering making it a solo rider doing a military theme - satchel bags, scabbard, and definitely apes...

Thanks BP - will keep that in mind....I rented an HD when I was in Monterey, CA and found the apes surprisingly comfortable. Seems like a logical mod on this bike.

I'd agree that apes are by far the most comfortable bars out there. I love my 16's.....

The front wheel is a Harley FXST 21".
