2002 Yamaha VStar 1100 Custom Part Identification

Can anyone tell me what is behind this lid? Specifically the large cylindrical part near the #29 clamp? I have an oil leak that seems like it is coming from there. I took the cover off yesterday but didn't have the time to take off the lid.

I don't like riding a Harley lol. Oil drops aren't fun. I don't get the hype HAHA.

It's hard to see from that pic....but it looks like the midshaft/u-joint cover. If that seal is leaking, you'll probably need to remove the swing arm to get to everything. Yamaha recommends doing that to the swing arm every 2-3 years anyway....
