2000 vstar 650 knocking

Hey guys! So I picked up this 2000 vstar classic with Vance and Hines pipes custom seat brand new tires and battery for 700 knowing there was a knock coming from the engine. I figure I am going to have to swap out engines but I'd figure I'd let you know what going on. I will post here and in the technical section too!

So the engine is knocking and I pin pointed what cylinder (rear) the front cylinder is getting no spark which has the rear cylinder doin all the work and running really hot and I suppose knocking.
I guess my question is, is the reason the rear cylinder is knocking is because of a piston being over worked. Maybe the PO didn't realize it was running on one cylinder? Or was it just always ? Thanks guys! Hope to hear form you guys!

is the knock in the cylinder or the block? what's the frequency? cam speed? crank speed? intermittent?
