Neutral safety switch o ring

I have a minor leak near the kickstand. I believe it is the safety switch but I wont know till I open it up tomorrow. I got a new O-Ring from Yamaha hoping its not the switch thats cracked.

My question is...should I lube the oring with oil or put it in dry and slap it back together?

clean grove with toothbrush

careful removing the screws as the plastic may have invisible crack, my first one fell into 4 pieces when I removed it.
What is the bike? 1100, 650??
mine is 650 and part number is 1L9-82540-00-00 less than $20.
stuff the hole with paper towels, clean area thoroughly with brake or carburetor cleaner before assembly.
DO NOT OVER TORQUE THE SCREWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When posting it is most helpful if you post what the bike is, miles etc.
Be sure and use the proper star type tool size for the screws.
Good luck
