Thumbs up New to V-Star - What should I look out for

I'm going to start riding again after a 15 year break and I'm looking at getting a used V-Star 1100. Are there typically things to look for when looking at a used V Star? Do these bikes have a known weak spot? I'm primarily looking at 2006-2009 V-Star 1100 (all models).

Thanks -

Good call on the V Star - I bought a 2000 a few months ago with only 16,000 kms on it - rides a dream. Changing the oil is a ballache I'm told (you have to remove the exhaust) but as I haven't had to do it yet I guess I'll find out the hard way. Or you can buy an oil relocation kit which negates the exhaust removal drama entirely.

Other than that not sure there are too many issues, seems most folk that ride these bikes have nothing but good things to say about them.

Easy, rider =)

Garage
there were issues with the middle drive nut backing off on some 1100s i don't remember which years had this problem, i think the fix was a new nut with loctite on it

https://sites.google.com/site/vstar1...r-must-do-list read the section on proper starting, never give it throttle when starting. as for the middle shaft, the later ones including yours should have the nut staked.i would check for sure.
