Question 1300 Deluxe - Headlight Upgrade?

MY RIDE: 2013 V STAR 1300 DELUXE

has anyone here upgraded/replaced the headlight bulb on a 1300 DELUXE? i am wondering if it is even possible to be a DYI project, or best left to a Yamaha dealer.

thanks in advance

Thanks... The issue I have is access to be able to even open the headlight bucket. I have a Deluxe and the fairing makes getting to the screws a challenge I have yet to resolve.

Oh Ya you will need to pull the fairing or undo either the top or bottom bolts loosen the other and pivot the fairing back towards your bars

Yes it is.
I can see ok just fine. I was wanting change out to something brighter for better daytime conspicuity for others.

I changed out the standard Amber 1157s for LED switchbacks that really make me more visible in shady to dark situations.

Was hoping to get some input from someone that may have done a headlight on a Deluxe and what to expect.

I replaced the stock headlight bulb on my 1300 Deluxe with just a Sylvania Silverstar. Definitely better than the stock bulb. It was a bit of a pain to get to as you have to remove the outer shell of the fairing to get to the last screw that holds the headlight cover in place.

I also added Custom Dynamics Dynamic Rings LED bulbs to the front turn signals. When they're on they are a bright circle light and then flash amber when you need the turn signal. I even left them flashing fast to really be conspicuous...I didn't add a load equalizer or resistor so they always give me the "fast flash" that you get when a regular bulb is out.

The brighter bulb and the Dynamic Rings really help at night. The Rings are pretty bright during the day too.
I may consider an LED highlight at some point, but I'm happy with the combo I've got.
c7c50 and c7c50 like this.
