Help! What fuel tanks are these?

Hi everyone,

So I purchased 01 v-star custom. I sent my tank and fender to a painter. The guy dropped off the face of the earth with my pieces!!!

Anyhow, I have bought (2) used tanks and both have been said to be 01 tanks, but I don't think they are. I am going to try and make one of them work for my 01, but I don't know what year bikes these tanks came from.

Can anyone tell me what year these tanks are from, I can get pictures from the top also.

suggestions welcome

Thanks in advance!

Is it a 650? 1100? either way, the tanks are same for every year....just different between models. I can't enlarge those pictures to see exactly what you have.......

Is there a better way to attach pictures?

I have an 1100 V-star Custom.

I don't necessarily have a preference in tank, I just want to know what year so I can purchase the missing parts.

The bottom tank is an 1100.......it'll fit every year the 1100 was made including Custom and Classic.

the top one.....who knows, but it will not fit your bike. It looks like a it came off a bike with fuel injection since the fuel pump is mounted in the tank.

Perfect, thanks mick. Exactly what I needed to know. I'll go to the local shop and see whats missing from the tank in order to install.

Petcock and gasket and fuel cap......also the rear tank mounting bracket. You can probably find all of it on Ebay relatively inexpensively.

I'm hoping you took the speedo, mounts and wiring harness out.....those are usually pretty expensive.

Hi Mick, or anyone else. So I have the parts finder, I've searched gasket, and when we look on the part locater we cannot find the part that fills where I put the arrow. Any help on the name of the part or a part number??

Thanks in advance, I found the petcock, so that isn't an issue.

Wouldn't it be a rubber gromet? Isn't that where the wires/speedo cable come up thru the tank? Been a while since I've had mine off.
