Part under battery compartment cover?

I took off the battery compartment cover on my wife's '08 VStar 1100 Custom and there was that rubber part just sitting in there. I have no idea where it's supposed to go. Anyone??

2007 V STAR 1100 CUSTOM CA - XVS11WC Yamaha Motorcycle CYLINDER HEAD Diagram and Parts number 33.it slides on one of the cooling fins.rear cylinder remove the plastic chrome cover that covers the spark plug. the rubber shield slides on the fin and the chrome cover keeps it in place.it looks like its for keeping water off the plug?

I took the right cover off but I can't quite figure it out. Anyone have an 1100 they can snap a pic?

sorry my discription was off by a bit. it does not go over the plug.under the left grommet it goes between the two left side cooling fins.it looks like a tail
