I'm planning on getting a v max soon. I like the look of it looks very classy, steady and comfortable even it looks quite big. Another thing that I love with this bike is the engine and power it produces.

Have to agree with Larry. I'm 60 and the one bike I wish I never got rid of was a '92 VMax. The power curve was great, the handling was a bit squirrelly at times due to frame flex, but I loved riding it. The most intoxicating exhaust note of any bike I've had. I say go for it.

I have had my 2001 Gen I VMax for a total of 2.5 months and 2500 miles. I picked it up after a 10 year haitus, having owned a Virago 750 and Seca II as prior rides.

With that said, the VMax demands respect and competency from its rider - if pushed. It is relatively docile, but heavy, if you keep the throttle to 1/4 and rpm below the VBoost kick in of 6000 rpm.

I just put 100 miles on mine yesterday with my wife riding two up. We had a great time and hit 100 mph with ease on one straight away.

Great passing power, great sound, fun ride, no problem keeping up with our Harley riding friends - they were always in our mirrors!

Minor mods (like progressive springs and sticky tires) make good handling improvements.

Hope this helps!

I've always liked the look of the Vmax. That's what started this motorcycle thing again for me. I found a very clean 99 Vmax on craigslist, went and rode it, made an offer on it and the guy refused to even consider my offer which was above clean retail. I had a 800 Kawasaki for 6 weeks before trading it in on my Vstar. Well the Vmax is up for sale again, $450.00 higher than it was last time. I email them about the price and got a good cussing out from the guys wife. She said that SHE is the owner, NOT her husband, and she will ask what ever she damned well please. A week later she dropped the price, and 4 days later she dropped the price to what I offered to begin with. Getting awful temped to go make another offer on it, but only book price. I wouldn't get rid of my 1300 though, like it too much, but that old Vmax is a rush to ride.
