Welcome to the forums, Dave. I ride an 1100 so I can't offer any advice other than that other members here say they absolutely love their 950s. I'm sure someone will will be able to answer any questions you may have about them so feel free to ask.

Hello, I'm on the 950 and I love it. Granted I haven't owned many bikes in the past. I was on the Yamaha FZ6 before this, and started on a Yamaha Special 400.

There is a real lovable character to the 950, IMO. It's a joy to ride and fits me well. It's big enough to be smooth and small enough to not be a beast to move around. There are plenty of ways to customize it, and plenty accessories out there.

It was strong enough to get me across America last year, and I put 14,000 miles on it that season!

I don't think you would regret purchasing a 950, if you have the chance.

Welcome to the forum evil dave, I own an '09 950 tourer with several upgrades. As YamaMassgirl said it's big enough to travel long distances and nimble enough for around town. Let us know what you decide on and share plenty of pics of it with us.

Thank you for all the input everyone. I'm going to go from a Kawasaki Versys 650 to a cruiser. The Versys is a fine bike but I need a long distance tourer. Plus I don't want to go above 1000 cc.
