In the market for a new bike, suggestions?

heres my story, or skip to the next paragraph if you're impatient!
Back in october 2018 I was riding my built shadow Phantom 750, then whammo hit by a drunk driver. lots of legal battle later I am having to use my uninsured coverage to pay for the whole ordeal. I'm looking at getting another Cruiser to replace it. I need something with fuel injection and set up to be driving on the highways here in the Wild West (85mph) the Shadow Phantom was never bad, it just lacked power at 85.

I've been looking at quite a few 1300 tourer's, and deluxe's. My budget is about $4,500. But that's including shipping. I think I've narrowed it down between those two bikes.

But my questions are: is the larger saddlebag space really worth it on a deluxe? Is the double price tag really worth it? And my last question is what should I'd be wary of or look for?

Welcome from Sacramento, Ca. The more storage the better. I would find out how long it was sitting and where it was stored.

Hi and welcome from East Tennessee.
Yamaha Pat is correct, for a highway cruiser, the more storage the better. If youre talking used, Id go for the deluxe and do your homework on the bikes history. The 1300s are great bikes, great handling and brakes. If youre talking new, take your time and shop around. There are good deals out there, and let us know what you get along with some pictures, just my 0.02 cents worth.

Not to highjack this post but depending where u are there are a few great 1300 deluxe out there. Such as :

Need Some Advice [vstar1300 19525.1]

If your looking at a 1300 consider Ivan's tune as well.. well worth the money and enjoyment of the 1300 / Yamaha platforms.

I didn't have the money for a deluxe when i bought my 2008 but now have Tsukayu strong bags and love the storage space so get what ya can when u buy .

I too lost my first bike 2013 Shadow Phantom 750 to an accident and my first choice was go bigger and test rode the honda and the yamaha 1300's and the yamaha was a much better bike. priced about the same but the Vstar was a nicer ride IMO.. Good luck with making your choice.
