2008 650 v-star no spark

Hi I'm having trouble finding out why I have no spark. Fuses are good, switches are good. I'm thinking pickup coil but I called Yamaha make sure there is no pickup coil with a stator are they lying to me?

if you google Yamaha Vstar 650 service manual you can find the factory manual online as a free download

Im not sure if the electronic ignition on these bikes has a coil or a sensor or if its some other device. The timing is controlled by the ECU and adjusted based on the throttle plate rotation.

you said you checked the switches, I assume you mean the kickstand and neutral position switches. Another consideration is the electronic ignition needs a good 10+ volts to fire the plugs. If you have a weak battery it will have enough power to spin the starter, but the sparkplugs wont fire.

also forgot to add, the free download service manual has a debug tree for no spark

that would be a good place to start, better than anything I can offer from memory
