Suggestion for a little louder sound on my V- Star

Hey everyone, just joined. I have a 2006 V-Star 1100. I had Cobra slip-ons put on my bike hoping to get a little more growl out of it. Big improvement when I open it up! it is an improvement at idle too, although I wouldn't mind just a little more.
What I would really like is just some more sound at low speeds. I'm not expecting for this huge difference but certainly noticeable. I don't want to do a full exhaust as I already spent a good bit of money on the slip-ons and the install for it.
A buddy of mine said getting a stage 1 kit with a quality air filter could do what I'm looking for but I wanted to get all of your thoughts on that. And also see if you have any other suggestions.
Any help would be much appreciated!!

Welcome from Houston, Texas. Which slip ons did you buy, some are loader than others are they use different baffles. You are also using the stock head pipes which are smaller in diameter than after market pipes and the smaller head pipe effects the sound. You might just need to change baffles with a more free flowing style. In my experience intake mods really don't effect the exhaust note much, unless you count the sucking sound you can hear. Here's a few interesting threads to check out when you get a chance.

Hello Rob616
Welcome to the forum

You can do a search on YouTube for V Star 1100 and you will probably find where folks have added exhaust alone and then added air intake box.
You can see and hear the difference.

I just added Cobra Speedsters to my V Star 950 and have a Cobra Powerflow air intake on order that should be here the middle of next week.
I researched V Star 950's on you YouTube and the difference between the exhaust alone and then with the air intake, convinced me to get the air box.
Hope this helps.

Thanks everyone for all your feedback. I'm looking into that air intake box. I found one on a V-Star site and I'm going to give them a call tomorrow.
if anyone else out there has some thoughts please keep em coming
