Howdy from NE Tennessee!

I used to live in Butler, PA and am still a diehard Steelers fan, Big Ben notwithstanding - Polamalu is my favorite.

Now we live in one of the most beautiful parts of this great nation, the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains - we're live 90 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway and I am itching to get my bike up there soon!

Speaking of my bike, I just picked up a 2005 Yamaha V-Start 1100 Custom that had 1840 original miles on it. It's immaculate, except for the scratch I put on the gas tank trying to take the helmet warning sticker off

I'd ridden a 1982 Yamaha Virago 750 for about 6 years and put over 35,000 miles on it, but I've been off a bike for the last 15 years. It's great to be back on two wheels again!

One thing about the bike, it stalls frequently at idle and seems to run rough when I first fire it up. The original owner told me he would start it with the choke on and run for about 5 minutes to warm it up...I don't think that was the correct procedure. I checked the plugs last night and they looked okay, I am going to replace them with some NGK Iridium plugs today.

Have you any other suggestions on how to improve the performance? It's really annoying when I come to a stop and the bike stalls!

Also, where is a good place for accessories? My wife wants passenger armrests and a little taller backrest. I'd like a light bar.

Anyway, I'm new to the forum and look forward to some good discussions.

Thanks and God Bless!

I finally took some pictures of my new-to-me ride. I just put these Saddlemen saddle bags on last week.

Nice Lookin Bike. I have purchased a lot of my accessories from Cruiser Customizing so far so good and my dealer. In fact I am waiting for my new Mustang 1 piece seat to arrive.

Thanks much for the kind words. (Go Steelers!-I'm a Western PA native, but have lived in the South for almost 20 years now...amazing how time accelerates!)
