Big Jump from a scooter

Getting an extended test ride (few days) on an '04 1100 classic; so far I love it. This is big change from the Burgman 400 (maxi-scooter) I've been riding for the last 4 years. Not sure why I'm making the change as the scoot has lockable storage, so easy in traffic (mostly I just commute)-- just feel ready for a change and a "real" bike. I think I'm going to do it-- just looking for any advice or "look out for's" before I sign the papers. My choice for about the same price was an '09 650 classic; the shop says even with the miles I will be way happier with the 1100 and is giving me a year warranty to make me feel more at ease with the miles.

It has 10k miles and seems tight as a drum. Now if I can just get used to a foot brake instead of the left hand!

Thanks!
Rich

Thumbs up 1100

The 1100 is a grate-fit's-all bike. 10k is a drop in the buck. Yamaha's v-twin engines are capable of 100k + with proper care. If you are on the tall side than the 1100 is it. The 650 is a vary good bike also, You really cant go wrong here. Both bikes can run with the big CC's all day long. (with-in-the-law)

I traded a 650 Burgman on my 650 Silverado. At first I was a little sorry for making the trade, the Burgman is one great ride. After I have had the Star for a while and done the usual mods (intake and exaust) plus some other bling goodies I am very happy with the Star 650. I can still get the Burgman Grin but it is on the Star!!!!!!!!!!!PS: The Burgie can run rings around the 650 Star********
