I am new to the forum and have enjoyed reading the various posts. I own a 2007 V-Star Classic and want to install highway bars. I understand the cosmetics and the "drop" protection, but I am really confused about the bars I would buy. I have floorboards and love 'me. What brands ofmbars work on that 2007 Star Classic?

I have the Cobra classic freeway bar installed on my 07 Vstar Silverado. I like them but when I bought them I had just started riding. I have been admiring the Lindby Bars.

Welcome to the forum Joe. You need to do a few things before we answer questions. You'll have to post a pic or two of your bike, tell us what size of bike you have, where you're from, how long you been riding and why floorboards make you "love me".

Lots of great folks on here that are willing to help out anytime, offer advice and give answers to questions; whether the relate to the topic or not

Ride safe and keep it shiny side up.

A few things added and more stuff to follow

Welcome to the forum. I don't own a v star so I'm not sure what the choices are...

Please post a picture of the bike and some other people might help you. They get kind of cranky when you they have no picture to reference.
Also tell us more about you...

Sorry about the scant info. I am a recently returning rider who was off bikes for 40 years. It never left my system, and I guess I wore my wife down over the years. When she said, "Oh, alright, go ahead and get one," I enrolled in an MSF course. The course was clearly valuable, but even at age 63, coming back was "like riding a bike." It came back to me comfortably. What is more, I wasn't the oldest in the class. There were two older.

I am an active, college professor, and my interest in riding is confined to commuting, touring some of the beautiful, hilly, twisty country roads in Tennessee, and running errands. At this point, I'm not a night rider nor a denizen of the interstate highways. While some have said that I am having my "late life crisis," I have been blessed teaching within a profession for over forty years where my students haven't aged a bit. Each and every year, the people I work with are 18-22 years old.

Summers are terrific. My wife, also a teacher, have long stretches of time to spend vacationing, spending time with grandchildren, and going on trips with friends, and enjoying the good life.

The bike is a 2007 Star 650 Classic. I bought it with less than 7000 miles on it in pristine condition. I have posted a picture. I have added saddlebags since the photos were taken. While it's certainly not a show bike, in my mind with my excitement, it's perfect!

I am asking for help in finding crash bars that I can add. There's a lot of bars out there, but so many will not work with the 2007 Star 650 Classic. My comment about the floorboards should have been that ...."have floorboards and love 'em," ......not "love 'me." That typo was courtesy of Apple.

Any help and opinions are valuable. I have seen the Cobras and like the look, but they might not clear the floorboards by the appearance of some of the photos. Further, does anyone have favorite shopping targets? The Internet has been really helpful, but it's a jungle. We know that it's a great source that's a mile wide....guarantees, however, might only be an inch deep.

Thanks in advance for the responses I have already had. I look forward to more chats. Hope the photos uploaded.

If the website says the Cobra crash bar you are lusting over supposedly fits your bike then it should fit fine.

I have a Lindby bar and an 1100 bike so I can't speak to your exact scenario but my bars came with extenders... I removed the running boards, added the extender between the frame and the board and re-bolted (with longer bolts provided in the box). The bottom of the crash bar then bolted to the extender....

Oh yeah... WELCOME!!!!

Welcome. I am 70 and also enjoy my daily commute to my part time job at Columbus State University and some short excursions.
I too am interested in Hwy bars for my 950.
Be safe.
