I bought my first bike a Yamaha Road Star about six months ago. I already have the itch to change it. I am considering exchanging the stock seat for a Mustang or an Ultimate. Anyone with experience or opinions would be appreaciated. I also ran across a place in Carolina that re-does your existing seat. I think the name was Mean City Seats. I called and he he seemed willing to help. Again any experience or what to watch out for would be appreciated.
I have a 2000 road star and I change my seat to 2004 model. Wife hate the rear seat or Pillion. So I made it 6 inches wider myself. My mother had an sewing machine to sow leather with. She passed away in 1997. But I did a little work on the machine before she passed. It is done just like the Ultimate seats. I am going to take both seats off this winter and have a local upholstery shop put a little more foam padding in it.
I would go with the Ultimate seats. I have seen a few and they are plush. I might even go that way myself. If you can do without the seats a few weeks. I think they are done in Texas. I got a price quote from them a few months back. I think it was $60.00 for the rear seat but, I have already made it wider.
I have put a tour pak on hard bags, batwing fairing with radio, front riders seat backrest, rear crash bars off a 1986 Kawasaki Voyager and cruise control on my road star.
It had around $2000.00 in chrome on when I bought it.
Here are a few links to my bike pictures.
Good luck and ride safe. Andy http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...8329.662820880 http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...8329.662820880 http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...8329.662820880 http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fb...8329.662820880
