New Member from Wichita, KS

Hello everyone,

New member from Wichita, KS. Recently sold my Honda Shadow 750 and picked up a 2003 V Star 650 Classic. Thought I would join the forum, as I did a lot of mods on my Shadow from information I gathered from Shadow forums and am looking forward to doing many modifications on my V Star. Anyway, the bike is pretty much stock with the exception of Cobra pipes, floor boards, highway bars, and saddle bag mounts. Bike has 15k on it and is in pretty good shape. So far I have cleaned it up, took off the passenger seat and sissy bar, and rode it a bunch. Looking at putting on a rear fender bib to cover up the passenger seat holes, possibly forward controls (I'm 6 ft and they made a world of difference on my Shadow), saddle bags, maybe a new solo seat, and re-painting. I will post up pics of my progress. Anyway, here are some pictures of the bike from the Craigslist ad that I bought it from.

Welcome carlton989. So what bike do you like the best? Why I ask is because I had a 750 areo until my wife bought her 650 classic. The v-star is 10 times the bike the honda was. Better built, more power and made with real metal instead of plastics. Don't get me wrong I road the crap out of my 750 and loved it.Had it for a year put 8600 miles on it and thats a lot here in the state of rain. Just wondering.

Welcome! Congratulations on your new bike. Check out the Hopnel motorcycle tank and fender bibs. You can find them at most on-line cruiser accessory shops. Enjoy.

Thank you for all the warm welcomes. As for the difference, so far I like the V Star better. I like the self-cancelling turn signals, floor boards, and cruiser handlebars. My Shadow was a Spirit model, so I never liked the looks as much as an Aero model(I like the full-fendered look with a wider front tire), it was newer than my V Star and had really low miles on it. But after all the the work I did to my Shadow (pipes, lights, saddlebags, windshield, new seat, forward controls, and new filter kit), I realized that I should have bought a bike with mods already done to save on some money.
