New rider and first bike

Just bought my first bike 2012 v star 1300. Already put 500 miles in three days!! I love riding! Any tips or tricks on maintenance would be appreciated. Thanks!,,

Welcome to the forum from Northwest Illinois. Glad to have you join us. The 1300's are great bikes and there are a lot of helpful 1300 owners here. Post often and ride safe.

Nice bike! There isn't that much for maintenance believe it or not. Follow your manual for the first oil change then accordingly there after. Ive found running synthetic oil MIGHT have my bike running a bit cooler (I had a starting issue after the bike was ridden a while then turned off for a short time then trying to start again on hot days) but since I started running synthetic the problem has been absent. If you are into doing modifications, when you do the usual trifecta of full exhaust, big air and a fuel processor it really wakes up the engine. Enjoy!
