New owner in Virginia Beach

Well, new owner next week. I bought a 2012 V star 950 Tourer for $6,400 out the door (Blue). It has 595 miles on it. I'm buying it from a car dealer and they have to get the inspection updated and the oil changed before I pick it up. It's flawless and looks brand new. Did I get a decent deal?

Anything to look out for with these bikes? Doesn't appear to be any issues I can easily find on the internet.

Also, it doesn't come with the owner's manual (I'll download it from somewhere). What type of oil should it be using?

Thanks!

Mark

Welcome to the forum from here in Northwest Illinois. Glad to have you join us and look forward to reading your posts and seeing picks of your 950. Oil is like hair styles, everybody has their own preference. I have always used Mobil 1 V Twin synthetic and have had no problems. Post often and ride safe.

Working on my 'bucket list' and enjoying every minute of it!!

Did I get screwed by $6,400 out the door? I did some research and it seemed reasonable. But I feel like you always get ripped off when you buy a car or bike these days.

you got a reasonable price on it. brand new it would have been $2K more. there was a factory recall on the fuel line on the 950s. make sure that's been taken care of. and i recommend Amsoil because it's awesome.

Hi, welcome to the forum, and to owning a 950t. Love mine! Oil is pretty much a personal choice. Dont thibk you can wrong with what bevo and OVSM recommended. The 950t loves upgrades. Ive added aftermarket exhaust, fuel processor, and LA choppers xxx open air kit. Really woke mine up and i still get great mileage. Spend a few extra bucks and get a good manual, and you wont regret it. Send us some pics, and you got a pretty good deal from where im sitting. Ride safe!

Welcome to the forum eh. The only thing you wont have to worry about, I think, is speeding. Everyone knows that red is the fastest colour . Make sure you post often, share stories, join in on the fun and post pics.

Ride safe and keep it shiny side up.
