New in New England

Hi. New member from New England. After constant headaches and bad luck with cheaper older bikes I stepped up and got a good deal on a new '10 Strat Deluxe.
Purchased the end of Augusta and hope to get a few m ore miles in before I call it a year. New bike gave me a new headache this am when it wouldnt start. Self Diagnose code (I think) is a 12. Trying to find details on what that means. ANy help pointing me in the right direction is appreciated.

Hello from Mass (weekly) and Maine (weekender).

I'm pretty sure the error code #12 on my old warrior was the crankshaft position sensor. The ECU won't allow a start if it doesn't know "where in rotation" the crankshaft is. Could be a wiring issue, DEFENITELY a warranty covered repair.

IF it is the CPS, one thing to keep in mind, IF it happens again, the ECU doesn't care when, as in, say,,,while your doing 85mph in the fast lane and you have a semi behind you, the motor will shut down.

I'm thinking "Augusta" may have been a Freudian slip....

Welcome from a reformed New Englander

regardless of which number it is, most error codes on Yamaha machines discussed online have led to be crankshaft position sensor issues. i believe i saw where the same issue was error code 9 on a different model, i think a yamaha sport bike. but definitely something you should have a dealer check out
