Angry New rider, new busted bike.

Hey.

I bought my first bike last summer. 2011 Yamaha V-Star 250.

I didn't get to ride much last year, less than 50 miles because the bike and I were separated by about 120 miles all summer.

Last night/this morning I had a new friend ride down to get the bike and bring it up to where I live. While unloading the bike, he dropped it off the top of the ramp. The bike landed vertically on its ass. Now the fender is all messed up, tail light busted, paint chipped, gas tank dented and who knows what else.

This is why I am here. To get advice on what to do next.

Oh yeah. I just paid it off last month.

1. Welcome

2. Take deep breath

3. Get rid of "new friend"

4. Take some pix of the damage (preferably close up pix) post to Photobucket or similar, and then upload here so that our mechanical experts can see what needs to be done and how to best and most economically accomplish that.

5. Hang tough. We have some great mechanics here (I just don't happen to be one of them)

From the pic it don't look to be too bad. But you can look on the bright side...(if there is one)...your on your first step to customizing it!

Welcome to the forum and I 100% agree with Springer, but I'd wait until his check for the damage clears the bank.

So this may seem kinda obvious to some of you... But now is the time for me to use my insurance right?

He offered to replace the tail light, but obviously more than just the light cover has been damaged.

If he was unloading it off of his truck when he dropped it, I would look into filing a claim on his insurance. May not be possible, but certainly worth a try.
