New guy from Anaheim California

Hello everyone I'm Jay and I'm from SoCal, Anaheim, Orange County. I'm a professional bike wrench and I've been riding for 15+ years. I have a 2000 XVS650, 83 XJ750, 94 YZ125 (bored/stroked to 174.5cc w/banshee rod and 13mm longer cylinder...) 74 Suzuki RL250 and a 78 Harley FXS Low Rider.

I wanted to join a Vstar community to keep up with what's new and exciting for our bikes.

Currently my Vstar isn't rideable because I have the infamous stripped splines on the final drive pinion shaft....

IF any of you guys are in Orange County (Anaheim/Fullerton) send me a PM or let me know here, I'm always looking for new friends locally.

Thanks for reading and having me in your community!

Jay

Hi Jay, welcome to the forum from a transplanted socal boy. We'd love to see some pics of your stable, it sounds impressive. We're glad you joined us, and since you're a professional bike wrench, I'm sure you'll get quite a few questions yourself. Ride safely!

MY XVS650 is unrideable due to stripped pinion shaft and coupler at final drive. Having difficulty locating the parts at a Reasonable price....

I also would like feedback on my idea to have new pinion gears CNC machined locally to offer for sale.

How common is this failure? If I was able to get parts in production what would be an acceptable sale price?

IF I get gears made I will have to invest significant time and cash in the design/setup of part at CNC shop. I'm willing to do so if this failure is common enough to make the part a needed commodity for the Vstar Community...It's not about profit, I want to help people keep their XVS riding not ending up at junkyard.

I'm thinking start with setup and 50 pieces and a price around $120 each including seals shims etc for complete install.

Is there any interest in this? Please let me know your feedback or questions

Thanks again for letting me join up!
