Hello, just bought a 2004 V-Star 1100 today. Bought it crashed.

Already have a few questions:
The VIN comes back XVS1100/A, fairly certain it's not a Classic so I guess by default it's a Custom?

also

The tank is shot-ski. Have an opportunity to pick up a 2001 yamaha v star XVS 1100 OEM Fuel Tank. Would this fit my 2004?

also

Besides E-bay or craigslist, where is the best place to get parts?

Thanks in advance

I thought the /A on the vin meant classic. Not certain, but my vin shows the same and mine is a classic.

Welcome to the gang.

Ride safe, fix it good and keep it shiny side up.

Welcome. I'm a noob as well.

I found PowerSportPlus to have good prices on OEM parts. Amazon is another good place to look for parts - especially aftermarket parts, but the best place to get parts is a local salvage yard. SportWheels is the salvage yard's site and they had a LOT of parts and some no-title parts bikes that had a lot of parts in really good shape.

Mine must be a custom, has the smaller fenders and custom turn signals(no bar).

Thanks Farmall for the tank advice and the pictures.

I see there are a lot more classic seats than custom, if you change brackets are they interchangable?
