was going along threw small hills fine and came to bigger longer hill and down shifted to forth and heard this loud churping noise start. I had heard it a little before not near this loud. I have heard Yamaha clutches make noise of some sort but I cant tell if its coming from clutch or engine I have also read about 3rd gear trouble but don't know how that sounds as well any thoughts 07 roadliner 17000 miles
Ya know what, it could be the throttle body flanges. My neighbors was doing a chirp noise a few months ago and I traced it down to loose allen bolts on the throttle body flanges. That might be the TB boots you are talking about.
The flange is the 'adapter' that bolts to the head that the throttle body mounts to.
The chirp is air sucking in between the flange and head. Might be the problem you are having.
Yes, several have had that problem, just pull the tank and tighten the flange and the chirp is fixed.
