I once flew from California to Boston for a training class and rented a Goldwing for a couple of weeks to go visit my brothers in PA after the class. I took 90 to 84 and then 209 to Stroudsburg as I wanted to avoid NYC traffic. It was decent but I was traveling in non-commute times for the most part. If you head northwest for a bit and go a similar route, it should be OK. I grew up in LBI before going to PA where I graduated high school so I somewhat know the traffic in the area and agree to avoid what you can. Another thought, I'm a big fan of Waze as a GPS (on the iPhone) and you can tell it to avoid freeways and go scenic routes. That's my 2 cents. Good luck and enjoy.

One of my bother's in East Stroudsburg, the other in Bangor (PA for those that don't know the area). I graduated in '71 from Bangor Area Sr High. The LBI part was as a little kid until we lost the house in '62, then moved to PA but went back to LBI a lot to stay with friends.

Thanks for the reply. My typical car route is 287N north and over the Tapp, then 684 to 84 through Hartford and onto the Mass Pike. I'm looking for something a bit more relaxed without all the interstate traffic. I'll keep playing with google maps until come up with something that looks good. Thanks again!
