Michigan in March?

Hey folks, this isn't a riding question. This is a car driving question.

I need to get to Traverse City in late march from Maryland. Looks like a 12 hour drive or a flight to Detroit and a 4 hour drive.

Is it a dumb idea to plan to drive in Michigan that time of year? Airfare, and time, is double, to fly into TC.

Thanks in advance.

Use to drive up to Imlay City/Capac area. It usually took us 10-12 hours with traffic and stops. You will probably get to see some more snow!

10-12 hours from the DC area? So, TC has got to be at least 15 or so from here?

Thanks!

I would not worry about the weather in late March. The long term forecast says no major snow storms. I drove half way up the lower peninsula and back today. The roads were clear. I would check the weather before you leave. We still have 2-3 feet of snow on the ground, i am hoping it will be gone by the end of March!

You could also check into Pellston Regional Airport. They have had some pretty decent rates lately. 9 times out of 10 they were more then TC, but lately quite a bit under so maybe worth a shot. From there only about an hour drive.
