Charging system troubles

Good morning,
I've been having trouble with what i assume is the charging system, this year when the weather was nicer, i tried starting the bike up and no luck, so i went and bought a new battery and it started right up, i went out for a ride and 20-30mins during the ride the bike just died and wouldnt even turn over, the battery was dead, so i took that battery back and bought a new one, again the bike would run for 20-30 mins and die, so i had bought a battery charger to ensure the battery was properly charged, so again the bike would run and die after the 20-30 mins, i checked all the fuses, the 2 main fuses and the 5 other fuses and all are fine.
Any ideas what it could be?
Also i dont have a volt meter yet to see if its charging or not, but was hoping before i went and bought one that maybe someone had an idea of what it could be,

Wal-Mart has them if Harbor Freight not close.

Alright, so i went and bought a MULTIMETER, So i tested the battery first and it was around 13 charged.
Connected the battery and started the bike up the multimeter readings where okay for the first few minutes, it was showing that the volts was going up, i left it for a few minutes and came back and the reading was, 12.37, i set a timer for ten minutes and
came back to see and it read 12.17.

Also, i noticed this, not sure if this could also be the problem?

the rpms have to be above idle to charge. check at 3,000 rpm the voltage should be be 12.8 and 14.5, depending on how charged the battery is.if its not charging or over 14.4 the regulator is bad.if its not charging check the stator.and the idle rpm is 950 to 1050

when the engine is idling it does not have enough mechanical power going into the alternator to charge the battery

but it should not go down either

the test is to rev the engine up a bit after you start it - when you give it a little gas the voltage should go up to 13 to 14VDC.

Im not sure what that is in your photo, but unless that is road tar on the back it looks like all the smoke leaked out

once the smoke leaks out its very hard to put it back in.... :^)

mechanical parts are easier to fix, they slowly leak out noise

when all the noise has leaked out you can put some back in, either by screaming at it for 20 minutes, or wacking it really hard with a hammer several times... thats normally enough for another 10 miles at least.
