I read the link about tires.. my ? is has anyone tried 210/50 ZR 17 M/C TL ME 880. That metzeler makes, it is their stage one wider tire, they claim fits with no mods. it is wider, diameter smaller.
I just ordered my stratoliner and it will be a few, not in need of tires yet, with it being michigan and not a good time to ride, can't wear them out anyway, was a bribe from wife lol I love her for that.
Thanks

thats what I had before some guy pulled out in front of me a nice 06 silverado had 3 sets and lots of mile and loved the Metzeler tires..
Just looking for anyone who might have put the wider version on the stratoliner and does it fit? instead of trusting the site that stated it was and acceptable upgrade from bridgestones.

Thanks,
Paul

As you read this thread please give us your opinion on your tires. Handling, wet handling, mileage before replacement, etc. Also, let us know if you've used a non-standard size and how that is working for you. Why did you try a non-standard size? Thanks.

on my roadstar I would get about 11,000 miles on a rear and it handles great, around 11,000 it would start to flat the center tread and I don't like it to have that it starts to handle different. Metzeler claims that the ME880 marathon is for heavier touring bikes, but the 210/50 zr17 has a softer compound so not likely that it will last as long.
I have sent of an email to have them give me info or update there site so I can be sure when I need a tire if they are in the option or not. Haven't heard back from them yet. but will copy and paste what hey send me.

Hey BobZ, let me know how you do with them, someone on another forum has 4,000 on his that size and says they still looks good, Just hoping they do as well as the avons in that size. I will probably get another summer out of the factory Dunlops...I hope..Haven't been riding as much as I use too.

Thanks

I went thru one ME880 Marathon 260-40R/18 on my RS Warrior in about a year and a half (equates to about 9 or 10 months of riding) before I was showing cords on both sides of the middle. It featherd the sides of the tire much quicker than down the middle (variable compound maybe??) but I do love my corners. I put another one on just like it because I could only compare it to the stock bridgestone that vaporized in 7 months.
