Question about the V Star clutch

On my 2009 V-Star 1100 it tends to stall alot at low speeds. I found this site: http://www.clevverlever.com and they have a clutch lever that I think might help the problem. Has anyone ever bought one of these, and if so, did it help?

Torque

The idea looks good but know nothing about them. I'm sure you know V Twins start to loose torque below about 2,000 RPM, below about 1,500 RPM things get shakey. Do you think you just need to keep RPM above maybe 1,200 or 1,500 RPM? I have sometimes felt at very low RPM I could stall.

I also dont like the narrow friction zone on my vstar 1100. i just bought one of these to try, expanding 50 % would be great and i also agree on this bike you need to keep revs up. its really cold and snowy here so i wont install until it warms up a bit, hope it works

When I first got my 650 classic about three years ago I didn't like the small friction zone either. You can try the mod (I've heard it does work) or you can just keep riding the way it is and you will get used to it. Keeping the clutch lever close to the friction zone before you take off will solve your problem.

I dont have any issues with stalling on the 650 or my 1100. My 1100 when it was new was fustrating as the friction zone was further out then the 650 suzuki v-strom it was replaceing.

But i did not stall it i just accidently reved it up a bit more than normal a couple times.

My only complaint with the stars clutches is they are WEAK. would gladly sacrafice a bit of easy clutch lever for a better grabbing clutch on hard take off. I esspecially nervouse about this come spring with the new intake and exhaust.

The 1100 as compared to other V-twin engines has a lower torque, which causes the engine to stall if the rpms are not there. I have the idle speed of my 1100 set to around 900, I stall it every so often if I fail to keep the rpms up. Of course this only happens when there is a crowd or in traffic. Good thing it starts right up again.

Torque

Doug,

I obviously stall my Stratoliner less, but I rode an 1100 V Star for a year and 14,000 miles. I never felt that way. The only time I stalled my Liner I was leaving a bike show at a speed that was an idle. Of course there was a group of Harleys comming in. I think I saw someone laugh.

i have vstar 1100, it helps to keep the revs up. i just receive the cleever in the mail today. i wanted to widen the friction zone, thought it may improve low speed u and abrupt slow turns, i will wait for some warm weather to install, its cold snowing and wind blowing 50 mph, wow
