I just purchased a new 2012 V Star 1300 about three weeks ago. I was riding a 1996 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500. I miss the "bulk" of the bike but enjoy the balance of the V Star. I need to sell the kawi to start re-buying all the extras I put on it on the V Star. I love new projects but the wife does not. I will be posting later about the "stealth batwing". Have a great day and keep the shiny side up!
Until very recently (less than a week ago ) I had a 1300 as well, but couldn't resist trading it up for a Strat.
It is a great cruiser, handles extremely well, and I loved it! One recommendation: it really steers well, but amazingly enough it can be even better, by installing progressive front fork springs. Relatively cheap upgrade, and absolutely worth it!
Welcome from a fellow Arizonan and the thrill (paradox) of riding in the sunny Arizona heat. Supposed to get up to 110 in some places this week. Ride safe.
I'll give it a shot Keith. This will be my first attempt at posting pics as I am still a new guy. Just thought I would add that it is a brand new from the sales floor 2012 model V Star 1300. They had a crazy sale on the few that they had left at the end of last month. When I got mine they only had 2 left in the west valley and I got it for 50% off.
Thanks postmaster. No kidding about the heat. Almost makes it tough to breath at highway speeds ha-ha. You know you're a true enthusiast when you're riding in triple digit temps. Gotta love it!
