Anyone do a headlight swap in a V Star 950?

Not just the bulb - the full headlight module. I'm looking at these 5.75 LED options but they don't have the mounting holes and are meant for buckets with trim rings. I imagine something could be rigged but I'm curious if this has been done yet.

Maybe

I looked all over the place for an LED replacement. I was thinking that trucklite would have one out by now that fit the 950, but you may still have to wait awhile. I can see more and more bikes going to LED's all the way around.

For anyone looking to upgrade to an LED light: make sure you check out the actual light output (lumens). The higher, the better.

When I was researching an LED headlamp lightbulb, I was pretty amazed to find "headlamp" bulbs that had less than 1000 lumens output.

Low lumen output will give you a bright LED look, but low actual light footprint for night riding.

I ended up getting a 2800 (high beam) bulb and found it to be better that my stock light.

How about an update. Still like it. How much have you ridden in the dark much? Any cons yet?

It's still working good and I haven't had any issues. I don't ride much at night but I've taken a couple of trips on some dark roads just to try it and it's leaps and bounds over the stock bulb. There is a bit of a dark spot about 15 feet out but it's not a major issue. Also, the high beam doesn't light up any further down the road than low beam, which I find a little odd (maybe just a quirk of the LED bulb and the stock reflector?) but it does fill in that dark spot and spreads the beam out wider. I've tried the adjustment screws but it didn't seem to make much difference. For the price ($15.99) I'm happy with it and it's a definite improvement, but if I did a lot of night riding I'd probably upgrade to a better reflector.
