I've got a 1300 (non tourer), and I love my bike. As far as I can tell, the only difference between the non-tourer and the tourer, are the factory accessories. The tourer comes with a windscreen and saddlebags. I can only say that there's 2 minor design issues that I personally dislike, and they're kind of hand-in-hand.
The ignition is housed in front of the speedo, in the triple tree
The speedo is on top of the risers, so you really don't have many options for changing risers
That said, the bike itself is a great bike. As for the ignition, I'm not sure if there's still a relocation kit made for it or not. The speedometer location, that's something I'm still toying around with possibilities on. But, those are personal preference.
I have a 1300. I put a Slipstream windshield and hard bags on mine. I love it. I have had Suzukis, Kawasakis and now Yammys...My bike has the O2 sensor mod done (easy to do) and it is a burner....I can ride like I stole it all day and there is more in it...
Have a 2013 tourer. Great performer, and some common mods can goose it appreciably.
