Broken throttle cable

Yesterday on my way home from work my throttle cable broke. Could not complete road side fix so had it towed home. I've got mini apes, plus 6 inches, not a single cable in town. You would think as large as Houston is there would be at least one, wrong!! Had to order one and should be here on Friday. It broke where the ball is attached to the cable at the throttle end.

Many lifetimes ago the throttle cable on my 1967 split windshield VW camper broke while I was on a road trip.

I was able to splice it with the low E string from my folk guitar.

All the way home, everytime I stepped on the gas I went:

nrr nrR nRR NRR NRR! Pretty woman
nrr nrR nRR NRR NRR! walking down the street...

Yes, non oem. Stock Barnett replacement that's 6 inches longer. There's a lot of throttle by wire these days on newer bikes, just out side my budget. Hey, this is the first fuel injected bike I've ever owned. Love the fuel injection during these cold months.

Les, what fuel injected bike were you riding and broke the throttle cable?!

you are not whining about your Electra Glide are you?

Not whining, 12 year old cable broke, I have receipts on when bars were changed. But I was mad about having to get it towed home. ?? By the way, really like the fairing and lowers on this cold weather. ?☺

Dealer called today, new throttle cable was in. Picked up on way home and put on after dinner. Took about 2 hours. A lot of time was cleaning since I had the tank and air cleaner assembly off. So down for just day. I feel better now, hate it when bike is down.
