Hello all. I just bought my '05 V Star 1100 classic last week. It only has 4,000 miles on it and I cant get it to start. It ran fine when I picked it up. It quit on me while riding and I thought it was out of gas. So today, thinking it had bad gas in it, I put fresh gas in it. It will crank over but will not run. Any ideas????? BTW- it has a brand new battery in it, and yes I have checked the gas valve.....

Bad gas

If you did have bad gas and pulled dirt, water, or gum into the carbs just adding gas won't do it. You will need to determin if you are getting gas to the carbs. Maybe pull a line loose. Check if you have spark first then proceed to check for fuel. Do you smell any gas after trying to start? The carburetors may need cleaned. But I can only guess.

If no gas to the carbs check the fuel filter. If there is a problem with fuel line or filter, flush out the tank and lines before you try to run it into the carbs. If you have fuel to the carbs and spark odds are the carbs need cleaned.

The bike is an 05 with only 4,000 miles. Odds are it sat for a while and bad gas is a good possibility
