So the other day I changed out the lovely starter clutch on the ole vstar, somehows or another after I got it all back together and started her up, I heard a really nice clanking, took it all apart again, we all know the joy there, and found that my cam sprocket had cracked. I'm thinking this may have already been a weak issue, and yeah, ok, I screwed the pooch and ate too much spinach, didn't know my own strength and busted it almost clear in half. Needless to say, ordered a new one from one of these fancy online stores, and they gift wrapped it in some nice shiny plastic stamped "Yamaha" for a mere $200! And now for the serious part of this. In looking at this thing, it appears the only way to remove/replace the cam sprocket is to remove the engine. I was wondering if anyone had some other advice on how to take this thing out and slide the new one in. Anyone else have to go through this yet?
