I have a 2005 V star 1100. when at idle it has pauses or hesitations. I am not sure if you could call it a miss. It also pops on deacceleration. It has done then since owning it. the previous owner told me the ais system needed to be bypassed but it appears it has already been done. I even disconnected the bypass hoses to see if it would change anything, but didnt. I have changed the plugs on it. What might be the problem?

Sounds like your carbs are out of sync, I adjust mine about every 1000 miles or so to keep the bike running in top condition. You can make a (monometer) carb sync tool by yourself for less then ten bucs.

That could be the case. But how do you sync carbs. I have restored several machines but they were all single cylinder.

Check out the Maxair web site, they show you how to make an inexpensive manometer and its use. Also if you have the stock exhaust and the carbs were not rejeted the engine is running very rich. this will cause a stumble from idle.
hope this helps
