I've been looking around at various fairings and saddlebag options for my 950, and have run across several vendors that list the 1300 for a fairing/saddlebag/trunk, but not a 950. Being fairly new to my 950, I was wondering if a fairing designed for a 1300 will fit a 950. Same with saddlebag and trunk options. It just seems like there's a lot more made for the 1300, and it would be great if I could use some of those parts, but I also want them to bolt up properly. Anyone have any experience with this?

not sure about the fairing, but i would think they would be incompatible. there are significantly different design elements between the 2 bikes around the triple tree, so i wouldn't think that a fairing made specifically for one would fit the other. no idea about the fender, but i would suspect all the mounting locations and holes would be somewhat different, though it does look like that have the same rear suspension and tire size so the fender shape may be pretty much the same. i think i would try to find a company that offers a fairing or saddlebag or trunk for both models and see if they are different part numbers.

My limited experience has been that the smaller parts are interchangeable, but your larger frame parts are not. I think bevo’s advice is what I’d go for. When I bought my MS fairing for my 950, it only fit a 950, not a 1300 as it was a different part number. There’s still several aftermarket parts places out there for our 950’s, I’d suggest shopping as many as possible for availability and best pricing and shipping. Just my .02 cents worth.

Thanks for the replies guys. I'll check and see if the P/N for 1300 accessories is the same P/N as the 950 accessories, and go from there. If I find anything that uses common part numbers, I'll post what/where I found it. I hadn't looked at them terribly closely, but I assumed they'd be fairly similar (though the 1300 having a radiator probably should have been a good clue that at least things up front were very different).

There’s a Facebook group of 950 owners that I’ve gotten some good information from regarding 950/1300 parts that interchange. I’m always looking for new parts houses and found a new place called Value Accessories. Jp cycles stocks quite a few accessories along with bikerhaven.net, and several others. Our forum also has a classified section that I’ve bought stuff off of.

Thanks for the info. I've looked on JP Cycles, but haven't looked at the other sites. So much more available than when I sold my previous bike 10 years ago. I'll definitely check out the classifieds too. Thanks again.

I actually have a 1300 rear fender on my 950. The mounting points are the exact same. Just have to notch a corner in the front of the fender and drill holes for the seat latch. The front slope of the rear fender for the 1300 is different than the 950.

all my factory stuff will bolt to the 1300 rear fender (seat, sissy bar ect.)

VStar 1300 OEM fairing does NOT fit 950....just wanted to put this to bed with hard evidence....(again thats the OEM 1300 fairing...other manufacturers fairings claiming to fit 1300 may...).....I purchased a NEW IN BOX NEVER USED fairing and hard saddlebags for a 1300 Vstar Deluxe....the fairing does NOT fit...saddlebags DO fit ...when bolting the bottom fairing supports first you can see it is about an inch short and does not reach the handebars....when bolted to the handlebars first it is about 1" shy of the lightbar bracket holes...now I could fab a bracket to connect the lightbar hole to the fairing mount but that still does not solve the MASSIVE gap around the light!!! Guess the 1300 light is mounted much higher on the forks than the 950.
So I'll most likely be putting this fairing up for sale for a steal real soon since I got a great deal on a package deal (fairing and saddlebags)...I'll be posting saddlebag info soon...they fit with all 1300 parts (saddlebag bracket frame and saddlebags)

1300 fairing will fit 950 with minor part swaps

UPDATE: Behold my VStar 1125!!! LOL 950-1300 cross breed.....With much research on partzilla website I found that the 1300 and 950 share the same tripple tree part numbers and to solve the slight distance issue noted above all I had to do was replace the 950 risers with the 1300 risers...this lowered the bars and fairing just enough to allow attachment at the lower mounting holes on the forks....I also replaced the headlight bracket and headlight with a 1300 to fill the gap around the light....so if anyone is inclined I can give you all the part numbers (or just visit partzilla.com)....pretty easy conversion....and I like the OEM fairing over others because it actually curls back over the bars protecting your ignition and speakers are protected by their deep recess!....as mentioned the bafgs are OEM 1300 also as the bags and bag frames fit the 950 plug n play....only minor thing I had to do was trim the rear reflectors to allow bag fit....
