2009 (XVS11ATYCL) V Star 1100 Silverado

Now that I've put a couple hundred miles on my new ride, I'm starting to feel comfortable again.
One of my concerns about this new bike is a "Popping" sound through the carburetors when I rev up.
The dealer told me the bike's carburetors are set very lean to gain access into the country. He further stated he would richen up the fuel mixture to eliminate it after the break in miles. I've also been told it's mostly due to the emission equipment on the bike; I understand it has a air pump.
Is there anyone who could set me straight on what is the cause of this annoying Pop is?
Thank you in advance

a Little Rusty

Popping

BNT,
Is your bike stock? We hear a lot about popping as people open up the exhaust and intake. But this is throught the exhaust. Not sure any popping through the carburetors is normal.

As to the popping in exhaust removing AIS, being sure of no exhaust leaks, and proper fuel mixture. Maybe carberetor sync.

This might shed some light.

Good Information

Thank you, that is exactly the type of information I was looking for.
Being "a little rusty" when this dealer told me FOUR hours to adjust the valves, I thought he was setting me up for a BIG payday for himself; right after he told me that I ordered the shop manual for this bike.
While I'm waiting for the book to arrive, would anyone have a similar link for adjusting the valves of this engine?

At this juncture I not sure where the popping sound is coming from.
