Me and Keith decided to start another thread where Keith and Pi.Girl will post pictures and other information about our first southeast regional member meeting in Smoky Mountains NC on September 20-22 2018.

We decided to open a separate thread so people won't have to go through all of those pages in the original meeting discussion thread. I will post a link to this one in the original thread as well.

Keith/Monica, please, add our story here. I think it was a success for the first meeting. Huge thanks to all of you who attended, supported, promoted and inspired this event.

Thanks so very much to all that attended and helped organize this event.
Oscar and I are very honored to have had a large part in this and we couldn’t have done it without the support of the special ladies in our life.
At last count we had 15 in attendance and 12 bikes and what made it extra special was our Canadian friends, Bknight and his pal Dave coming all the way to NC to share in our first annual event! Hows that for support eh?
We got to meet and ride with amazing people we now call friends and simply enjoy one another’s company, we even celebrated Darksider’s 80th birthday with him!
We had one funny story after another. Just ask Toymaker and me about Nemo’s three steaks and you’re out adventure, and Catherine’s interpretation of what SVTC stood for when ChiefGunner was explaining to her what it meant, .
I have to tell you, it takes a lot to impress me at my ripe old age, yet everyone in attendance was impressive. The camaraderie and new friendships have me yearning for next years event which we have already began discussing. There’s an offer on the table to drive through Houston and pick up les and his wife and bike and escort them to the 2019 event!
ChiefGunner’s hearty laughs, Darksider’s ability to ride his Strat through the Cherohala Skyway, those crazy canucks that joined us, and the rides and scenery and great weather makes me feel like a very blessed man and I know I speak for pigirl as well!
Thanks to Rita and the staff at the Waynesville Inn for their hospitality and helping us out and again to all in attendance for making it a very memorable experience. Everyone ride safely until we all meet up again and stay safe!

I want to thank all that helped organize this adventure and make it a true success. We who did not get to attend this year are enjoying reading about it. Please continue to post the pictures and stories of the event.

We’ve already come to a consensus Les, we reached it the other night during dinner.
Next year Les, we are coming to kidnap your motorcycle! Your BIKE is coming even if you don’t, so I suggest you FOLLOW IT! 😁

I don’t think there was a single person who did not have an awe and respect for Darksider (Dick) who was celebrating his 80th birthday.
I rode behind that guy and he was RIPPING up those corners like a PRO! I was watching sparks coming off of his kickstand in some of them and I was dragging my own floorboards keeping up.
I can only hope I have the same verve and zest for life when I reach 80 years old!

On a side note, after having watched CLOSELY from the back and OBSERVING the performance of a Darksided bike, my wife and I are SERIOUSLY discussing giving it a “go”. I can always switch back if I don’t like it.

The Canadians made it home today. Dave's bike broke down so one day we only made it 10 miles north. Turns out that he'd bottomed out a few times and cracked the fuel tuner housing. Water got in there and shorted it out. Took most of the day but the dealer in Ebensburg PA got it fixed and we made it the rest of the way without incident except for the constant rainy drizzle. As we approached the border the sun came out and we were smooth sailing the rest of the way home. Going to have to check his rear shock and adjust it. (Or he could go on a diet).

It was great to meet everyone and a special thanks to Toymaker for the guided tour. Everyone was so nice that Dave thought you were all Canadians. LOL!

You all have such nice bikes it was fun to check them out and see what everyone had done to theirs to make it their own. I turned 69 on Tuesday but Darksider has me beat by a long way. Hope I'm still riding at 80 and if I am I probably won't be as good as he is on that bike.

Thank you Keith and Oscar for putting this together. We had a great time!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY.... Glad you both made it home safe.... we felt privileged that you would take the 3 day trip (each way) just to hang out with us... We're planning on doing it again next year (hope you make that ride)...

I second the notion! So glad you came down to hang out with us, it was the cherry on top to have you guys with us from such a long way away. Glad you both got home safely and sorry you had the mechanical issue. Hopefully you guys can make it next year.
