I have a 2005 650 custom I bought last year with 5200 miles on it. I picked it up from the dealer and have a warranty(or so they call it). It now has 11000 miles on it and I have done the valves and oil. Around 9000 miles the valves started making a loud noise. I went to adjust them and they were bairly off. Now the noise is even louder and the valves are still perfect. Before I take it in for the so called warranty, has anybody else had this problem? I want to make sure the fix isnt something I can do before I take it in because they will charge me $200 just to tell me to fix it. I have heard of rumors about piston slap. I do have limited side slop on the valve but not much. The noise almost sounds like the piston is tapping the top of the front cylinder. The rear cylinder sounds great. Any input or ideas would be greatly appreciated as I am out of ideas.
