is anyone familiar with "the clevver" for clutch friction zone adjustment, or know someone who is?

One of the most common complaints about V-Star cruisers is the tiny Friction Zone and the elusiveness of the “sweet spot” necessary for low speed maneuvers. The lever is almost like an on-off switch. The Clevver is an OEM style replacement for your stock lever, with improved geometry to increase the size of the Friction Zone by 50% and decrease the amount of pull needed by 33%.

1998-2010 V-Star 650 Custom, Classic, Silverado
2009-2010 V-Star 950 (All)
1999-2009 V-Star 1100 Custom, Classic, Silverado
2007-2009 V-Star 1300 & Tourer

I think this "clevver lever" stuff is just "clever" marketing. I've been riding bikes for 35 years and have experienced all types of bikes. I find nothing at all wrong with the stock clutch lever on the Vstar and I have riden quite a few. If you can't get that smooth transition for slow maneoveres you need more practice, not a new lever. Poor tradesman blames their tools IMHO.

Not certain what you're referring to, but for the 650 with it's small clutch friction zone, you either get used to it (like I did), or you try this:

I tried it, didn't mind it, but by that time I was used to the clutch the way it was, so I took this off and went stock.

i bought it but it didnt work, i tried to replace it with supplier and they said they didnt have a unit for the 2000 vstar 1100 custom, i ordered what the website said and they have not been responsive to replacement or credit

Also, i would really like to have a wider friction zone so i tried this. i do need to practice low speed turns as has been suggested also, i try parking lots frequently really heats up the clutch and probably wears it alot but very necessary

hope you can find something that works for your bike

kdbrich, does the item on the link work on vstar 1100 custom also
I would assume so--it's basically just a spring and a tube. Basically, it just stretches the spring so it gives you a gradual friction zone instead of all-or-nothing. Took me about 10 minutes to put it on.

I wasn't aware the 1100 had an issue with a short friction zone.
