Hi All

I'm new to this site have have searched for a couple of days now but can't find anyone that has had this problem.

My Auto canceling turn signals isn't working anymore. The turn signals work but will stay on till i hit the button. I was just wondering if i change the rely will this fix the problem or could it be something else? didn't want to spend the 60 buck for the rely if its not the problem.

Thanks for the help
Dave

I don't even know if my auto-cancelling feature works, I just hit it after making a turn. A broken fuel sender keeps my fuel gauge from registering too.

Wish I had some deep insight to offer on using a multimeter in order to analyze your relay and/or switch. Getting in the habit of turning the blinker off manually is guaranteed to help you avoid spending the $60 though.

Just sayin'.

This is all I could find on it

Since this model is equipped with a
self-canceling system, the turn signal
lights will self-cancel after the motor-
cycle has traveled both about 150 m
(490 ft) and for approximately 15 sec-
onds. However, the turn signal lights
can also be canceled manually by
pushing the switch in after it has re-
turned to the center position.
NOTE:
_
The self-canceling system only oper-
ates when the motorcycle is moving, so
that the turn signal lights will not self-
cancel while you are stopped at an in-
tersection.

Cut and pasted from the 650 manual

Its was working fine Sunday when I first set out for a ride. I got used to not shutting it off with the button then when we were almost home I notice it was still blinking after 10 minutes of riding. I tried it again today and rode the bike at speed for over 10km and it wouldn't stop blinking until I push the button. Guess I'll just get in the habit of pushing the button

if there is a module located on your bike that controls the self canceling lights, see if you can find it and inspect the wiring. if you have to replace the module, it will probably be at least $60. or just, you know, don't replace it and keep on living your life. did anything else on your bike stop working at the same time?

Everything else on the bike is working. I have a wiring diagram of the bike and there is no module. just the rely but it is 60 buck so it is probable built into it. Can't see a normal rely costing 60 bucks.

If I were you I'd consider myself blessed as you won't have to dig into it to disable the self-cancelling feature. You can train yourself to turn it off manually, and don't have to worry about it self-cancelling when you need it to be flashing.
