Hi Everyone, I have just changed out the rear tire on my 07 vstar 1100 and now have a severe vibration after 50 mph, that gets consistantly worse as speed increases. The recommended replacement tire was installed and balanced by a local bike shop that I trust. it is the first tire change on this bike, it only has 10,000 miles on the chassis. There was no vibration with the original tire and I have never experienced any problems with this bike until the tire change. Have I put the drive shaft out of phase some how? It went together easily and nothing was forced into place, any recommendations?

Well if all you did was change the tire, the fault lies there. You might have lost a weight, or not balanced well. Another cause could be a defective tire. I had a tire cord/belt go bad on a car tire once and it felt like it was out of balance. The defective belt lets the tire stretch and become out of round.

Thats a great idea just barely get the tire off the ground. then slowly rotate the tire while watching the clearance.

I agree with the others sounds like a bad balance job, or bad tire. You might feel an out of round tire riding on a smoth road very slow. less that 15mph.
