the weekend before last was the 2nd annual Capital of Texas Police Motorcycle Chute Out. biker cops from squads all across Texas, as well as surrounding states Arkansas, Louisiana, Missouri, and even one ringer from as far as California ascended onto the backlot of a Cabela's in Buda, TX to challenge each other in skills riding contests. and i got to be a judge this year.

there were numerous events, and my job was to determine if riders in my section made contact with any cones. it was pretty awesome getting to observe these amazing bikers negotiate these challenging courses from extremely close up, and get to judge them. the event raised money for Wounded Warrior Project and the Center for Child Protection. they asked a couple local biker groups like B.A.C.A. and a LEO riding club to be judges. there were more than 60 entrants and a handful actually laid down their bikes on one particular course.

How cool ! Whenever our bike unit puts on one of these 'rodeos', I go out and support them. After seeing several tump over and how challenging the courses can be, I turned down the offer to join the unit. As Clint Eastwood said in sudden impact, a man's gotta know his limitations. Thanks for the pics and story bevo!

I have a vague recollection of the lanes on the course being called a "chute"... and it sounds less aggressive than "shoot" so it has friendlier connotations :)
